Question 1 - calendar

Dates to Notice:

• School year begins on August 8, 2024 and ends on June 10, 2025
• Staff Development Days distributed throughout the year on August 6, November 1, and January 7
• Teacher Work Day August 7
• Fall Break October 7-11, with a New Teacher Workday October 14
• Full week off for Thanksgiving, November 25-29
• Winter Break December 23-January 3, with a New Teacher Workday and SDD before students return on January 8
• Spring Break March 24-28, with an Emergency Make-up Day on March 31
• 4-day weekend for Easter (required per CSEA contract)
• Emergency Make-up Day May 23 to create a 4-day weekend for Memorial Day

Question 2 - dues increase

Important Information

• The current AEA dues rate is $290 per year, which is deducted via payroll deduction of $29, 10 times per year, September through June.
• AEA dues have not been increased in at least 15 years, and AEA works hard to keep costs down.
• Your AEA bargaining team works hard to improve your salary rate each year, which has resulted in increases of more than 40% since we last asked for a dues increase.
• Inflation has impacted AEA's ongoing costs, such as PG&E, Internet, Telephone, office supplies, and maintenance of our building.
• We want to continue to provide services to our members, but we cannot do so without an increase to our income (your dues).
